How to Track 600+ Opt-Outs Without Losing Your Mind

A practical workflow for running hundreds of removal requests per household: batching, status hygiene, follow-up windows, and re-checking for reappearance.

The directory is large on purpose. Six hundred brokers times four family members is 2,400 removal rows. Treating that as one heroic weekend is how people quit halfway.

Batch by method, not by broker

Email brokers are one click each and can be cleared in long, fast runs. Web-form brokers need attention, CAPTCHAs, and sometimes ID upload. Do all the email brokers for the whole household first — that is usually 80% of the directory.

Keep statuses honest

  • Requested: the request left your outbox. Nothing more.
  • Follow-up needed: past the statutory window with no answer, or the broker asked for something.
  • Removed: you saw a confirmation, or you searched and the listing is gone.
  • Rejected: they claimed an exemption. Note the reason — it matters if you escalate.

Re-check quarterly

Brokers repopulate from upstream sources. A profile removed in March can reappear in July from a fresh public-records ingest. Quarterly re-checks on the twenty largest brokers catch most of it.
